Background
Nate Garvis is Vice President of Government Affairs for Target Corporation, one of the largest retail companies in the United States. He is responsible for legislative and regulatory affairs at the Federal level as well as similar affairs in all of the states in which Target Corporation operates stores. Nate also has responsibility for Target Corporation's political affairs, serving as Treasurer of the corporation's four political action funds. He is a member of the Boards of Directors of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, the Minnesota Retailers Association, the Minnesota Film Board, the Illinois Retail Merchants Association, the California Business Property Owners Association, the California Retailers Association and the Jefferson Center for New Democratic Processes, for which he serves as the organization's Chairman of their Board of Directors. He is a former policy fellow at the Hubert H. Humprey Institute of Public Policy at the University of Minnesota and currently serves as Chairman of the Policy Forum's Advisory Board.

Nate graduated from the University of Minnesota, (B.A. in History) 1985 and the University of Oregon, J.D. 1990. He worked for the House Majority Leader in the Oregon House of Representatives during his legal education.

Nate served as Director of government Affairs and Legal Counsel for the Minnesota retail Merchants Association prior to joining Dayton Hudson Corporation in January 1993
