Midtown Global Market

The Neighborhood Development Center (NDC), along with the African Development Center and the Latino Economic Development Center, has signed-up 62 new and expanding business among local entrepreneurs as vendors of the Midtown Global Market. The largest public market in Minnesota, the 72,000-square-foot space on the first floor of Midtown Exchange offers fresh foods, arts and craft items as well as a number of take-out and sit-down restaurants.

Office/Commercial

Allina Hospitals and Clinics occupies 411,000 square feet of office space within Midtown Exchange. In 2004, Allina had announced it had chosen Midtown Exchange as the site to consolidate over 10 locations and would house its administrative activities in one locations. Known as Allina Commons, the office is home to approximately 1,850 Allina employees.

Housing

Nearly half of Midtown Exchange has been redesigned into condominiums and apartments developed by Sherman Associates, Inc. Within the 1928 building, floors 2 through 8 offers 219 units of affordable and market-rate workforce rental housing. Floors 9 through 17 have been transformed into 89 lofts and penthouse condominium residences.

Project for Pride in Living has developed 52 units of for-sale townhomes that will wrap the parking ramp located on the east side of 10th Avenue, across the street from the main building. These units, totaling approximately 93,000 square feet, face north onto the Midtown Greenway and east onto 11th Avenue.

Hotel

A new full-service Sheraton® Hotel was added to the campus to address a currently unmet demand from patients and patient families and other vendors and visitors at Abbott Northwestern Hospital and Children's Hospital. The 83,000-square-foot, 136-room Sheraton Minneapolis Midtown Hotel features a restaurant and bar, fitness center and meeting and special event facilities.
